Notes

The material on this record consists of almost the entire Jonestown "death tape" (Q42) from November 18, 1978, along with approximately 2.5 minutes of additional Jim Jones speeches and sermons at the start of side A.

Picture disc with insert released in an edition of 912 hand-numbered copies, one copy for each dead person on the mass suicide, though like other VDO discs it can be assumed that 1000 copies were pressed and 88 copies were numbered as '23'.

Some copies came with an A4 sized, 16 page xeroxed booklet containing a partially complete transcript of the recording (there are omissions in the transcript for words which are not clear or decipherable) over 14 pages, a cover page for the transcript, and a front page which is the original announcement for the release with ordering details. All pages are one-sided, and joined together by one staple in the top left corner.

An expanded booklet containing further documentation and images was later released separately.

Throughout the history of rock, how many disks have attempted to describe the death or were heavily inspired by it? Many, impossible to count. But how many of them are successful? Very few. And how many REALLY? Only one. This one. What's really funny is that in this picture disk there is no music describing the death, there's isn't music, but the death itself. No words of mine can describe this better that the voice of Jordi Valls itself: "It's the live recordings of the last moments of life while they are drinking poison and dying at the Peoples Temple in Jonestown, Guyana. 912 men, women and children died. It's a picture-disc with graphic photos of dead bodies from the massacre". Else to add? Yes, just the fact that these forty minutes of speechs completely devour the 99% of death metal on this planet, and no fake blood, b-series violence, teen gore or frighteningly ridiculous covers can never keep up with him. Why? Because this isn't a representation, or a painting of a scene of death, this is a direct proof of real suicides, and through the grooves you can hear the screams, the bodies that collapse, and the voice of the Reverend Jim Jones that preaches the end and the eternal glory of heaven, the evidence that there isn't limit to the human madness. This is the epithet of Non-music, an incredible beautiful plate, musically unimportant(and in fact I don't think that many likes it,except of me and other crazy monkeys) but with a huge historical significance. The greatest rock and roll record ever made? Damned hell, surely. Unstoppable.
