It seems very strange to me that anyone would give this album less than 5 stars. Though I'd normally respect the diversity in aesthetic preference among metalheads, this album should yield a perfect score from anyone claiming to appreciate the genre. While statements of this nature often provoke aggressive reactions, I'm at a loss as to how anyone could complete listening to 'Inheritance of Evilness' and deem it anything less than flawless, transcendent, representative, and worthy of the highest praise. Racking my brain, I've been able to produce two possible explanations, being - 1) the album wasn't listened to properly/the listener is incapable of appreciating the material due to a lack of understanding of metal and the implied esoteric understanding one should have before delving into the underground2) the listener doesn't like metalIf you had never seen the artwork to this album, it'd show vivid in your mind within the first few minutes of putting this album on.This is outstanding music. Every riff within every composition is perfectly arranged - the structures here are outstanding. There is no filler - each section of music is completely necessary. The drumming is wild - loose, barbaric, raw, with every hit perfectly complimenting the music. This style of drumming is essential to Hail's presentation - its looseness allows the mind to stray outside the confines of perfectly metered into this strange world. The vocals are amazing, and Dirtmaster is a contender for the best vocal performance on any black/death metal album in existence. And although the combination of all element is essential to the character of this album, the guitar/bass work is particularly special. On the surface, on can hear hints of Manowar (albums 2-4, especially in the bass works), Varathron, Necromantia, Barathrum, etc etc (all the classics) - but these influences are filtered through the genius of Dirtmaster, whose unique playing creates a very different atmosphere. The more listens one gives this album, the more one discovers. The album is a world that can be accessed by anyone who has the patience to properly understand the music. It's unique atmosphere can't really be found anywhere else, so one needs to give this a chance. To those who gave this album a 4 star rating - listen to it again, in the dark, with nothing else to distract you. When the album ends and your body recovers from the trip through the vortex, you will race to your computer, itching to click that extra star. To the guy who gave it 2 stars - I really don't know what to say. You gave Nirvana and Skid Row albums 5 stars. Maybe you shouldn't critique music you don't understand.I'd rate this album infinity stars, but Discogs only allows 5. MIGHT IS RIGHT!
