What a Box Set Should BeInstead of a mish-mash of album tracks and demo cuts sequenced together in random order, this is what a box set should be. Pretty much all the studio recordings from Klinik's original run (1984-1991) are included here across six discs. Disc seven is a good quality live album from 1986 but it doesn't really top the studio versions of those songs. Disc eight gathers up some remaining odds and ends including some rare tracks. I'm sure if the label really wanted to, they could've come up with a couple more discs of rare/demo/unreleased material to bring the set to ten discs, but I'm not sure that was necessary. Most everything a Klinik fan would want is included here, and the original Antler-Subway discs are difficult to find at reasonable prices these days, especially outside of Europe.The entire thing is packaged in a ten inch hardback book, with four clear plastic digipak trays on each side. The booklet is nice, but a bit thinner than what I would've liked. Some more extensive liner notes from the band and lyrics would have been appreciated. I guess they want to let the music speak for itself.The audio was remastered by Eric van Wonterghem, and while it is louder than the older discs from what I remember, it isn't too loud for this type of music. Klinik were never the most complex or dynamic group so an average DR value of 7 on this box set doesn't bother me too much. This set was limited to 1000 copies, so if you want it, grab it before it's gone. If previous Klinik reissue campaigns are anything to go by, these recordings won't be reissued again for another decade. Hopefully the label will see fit to reissue the first six discs separately for those that missed out on this set.

Very good release to get involved with the original THE KLINIK. Before that, I only had the compilations The Box and End Of The Line. Some tracks of their debut remind me of tracks from another belgian debut, which is Geography by Front 242. Well techwise, they both used the Roland TR 808 drum machine and voice samples. The F242 debut is a bit more classic, concerning the structure of the tracks, which are nearly songs.Highly recommended release to get to know THE KLINIK!

Does any body know why Nautilus II from Box on here (Disc 4, Track 1) is much longer at 8:36 but on the original Box it was only 1:50? Is it a mistake and the same version as on Disc 8?

No mistake! Different versions! The short NII has the same rhythm as all N have. The short NII has the sax in it but not the deep drone sounds. The long NII has the sax and the deep drones.

Realistic

It is a mistake, Nautilus II is the same version as on the original Klinik box (1:50). Nautilus on disc 8 is the long version (originally released on the split lp "attentie").
