I guess that Raison De Plus are a good example of one of those bands that never quite lived up to the expectations promised by their debut. "Quand La Nuit Se Lévera" on the Various - Enchantement album was one of the finest tracks to feature there. But, by the time they did get to make an album their style had become a lot more basic, direct and modern, pretty much lacking that "old charm" finesse. So, was this second album a step back in the right direction? Hard to say, as some of it is more experimental, yet some of it is so straight, and the production too pop sounding with the drums (with thickly compressed reverb) much too much to the fore. In all it's a bit clunky, but probably on par with a British counterpart like Pendragon?
