Originally envisioned as a standard 10- to 12-song LP, "Night Lights" never made it to a full release. Instead only eight of the tracks presented here were released (on various singles and an EP), and only 3 of those made it to CD before release of this album. Although this is presented as an 'album,' it is a compilation of the tracks from what are called the "Night Lights Sessions". All tracks were recorded between December 20, 1955 and January 21, 1956.

Tracks 5, 6, 8, 11, 13 previously unavailable on CD.
Tracks 2 to 4, 9, 10, 14 to 20 previously unreleased.
