50 Shades is a dark mixture of sexual aggression and forbidden desire. An eerie beat with cryptic guitar and piano lines accompanied by clean vocal melodies that collide with heavy guitars and raw emotion.
"We all want what we can't have..." Says Vocalist Kyle Winterstein, "...which means we also want what we shouldn't have. This song is about just that, giving into desire and the resulting whirlpool of human complexity."
Kyle goes further by stating, "The book/movie reference is merely a platform that helps visually unveil an already existing concept and emotion I had written about previously. Sex encompasses all the senses, the idea of utilizing something most people already understood via mainstream media (the book series) just seemed like a great way to create the appropriate mood for the song."
