"EXIT-STANCE - SAYING NOTHING (BUT SPEAKING MY MIND)" Raw sounding angry punk!. Was glad (if not slightly releived) to hear this 80's Anarcho band has not lost any of their anger or intensity, in fact I think this new release has a bit more of an intense sound than their outstanding classic "While Backs Are Turned" that was released back in 85 on Mortarhate records,(and which has stood the test of time to this day)! To my ears Exit-Stance's "Saying Nothing (But speaking my Mind)" has a heavier grinding metal flavour flowing through it, with almost a hint of really early Killing Joke and even bits of Amebix here and there and still you can hear the classic anarcho style.Off the bat with the first track 1916 i immediately reconised this as "Exit-Stance", they've always had their own unique dark heavy menacing sound (almost tribal even) with lyrics and vocals that spew discontentment and anger, a sound that stood them slightly apart from other similar bands from the 80's Anarcho punk scene. On the included inner lyric sheet it mentions that the recordings are taken from live rehearsals back in 2004 which is noticeable on a few of the tracks, but they are good enough in sound quality considering being recorded live and I think it gives the overall sound a rawness that some punk Record's sadly lack these day's and I rather like that raw edge to it personally, some punk record's today sound too polished and glossy for my own personal taste. It's a shame there's not more than the 5 tracks on this release but i can live with that, but all in all a very good release with stand out cover art that ties in nicely with the song subjects contained within, typical Exit-Stance leave you wanting more! Just hope it's not another 30 odd years before we hear something else from them because I'll probably be dead by then.
