This is only a mini album, but you get the impression that they needed to create this before moving on to something more - it has a feeling of documented experimentation, a milestone in their own personal history. "Lethargic" opens things - dark, thunderous electronic sound surrounded by flying fragments of noise contrast against a more traditional Rock sound. "We Are All Sick" burns from white-out distortion into a more medium-paced song afire with fuzz guitar and a stewpot of electronics which amalgamate to make a sound curiously more thrilling than the apparent sum of it's parts. "Palegod" sees them playing with drum machine rolls while the overall sound builds in intensity, consuming your listening environment in it's fiery post-MINISTRY maw. "Victims" follows a similar style, melding less-than-subtle synth sounds with muscle-bound guitar distortion. "Rusted Iron Turning Wheel" initially comes over as a slightly more aggravated version of the Medieval-influenced groups (ATARAXIA, for instance), melding their own sound into it, making this the most 'different' track on the MCD. A slightly hysterical, even militaristic edge makes the track a curiosity to this area of music. "Spit" opens with a music box running down before kicking into a powerful medium-fast track which again does 'a MINISTRY' with it's tempo changes. A good taster for this group who swell out of the field CHASE calls Torture Tech and into the more flowing stream of Hardcore. While the songs don't bow down too low to their potential audience by being so hooky they easily stick in the mind, they do become seductively repeat-listen-able. The vocals are clear and raw, and the overall sound is thick without being unnecessarily cluttered or distorted. Originally reviewed for Soft Watch.
