Matthias Frey started with the excellent PSI, and then forged a career of his own exploring many more genres than you'd expect of a jazz pianist. One good example is this "Ohrjazzter" - a very odd album indeed. Here he fuses avant-garde with middle-eastern cultural elements, and pure experimentation, some jazz but not a lot. It's mostly prepared piano, percussion and voice, and all the more surprising because of that.
