I bought a copy of this used a year ago and it was a little warped and a little off center and was riddled with clicks and pops. I got rid of it. I recently purchased a new copy and it plays perfect. Not only does it have a dead silent background but the sound is amazing. High fidelity, easily one of the best recordings I've heard. Super punchy drums, deep bass and nice thick guitar sound with a very expansive soundstage. The sax sounds warm and dynamic and the synth adds nice detail to make the record very full sounding. But most importantly is Bowies voice is given nice presence. Very engaging listen, sounds awesome. I would highly reccomend this one. (Comes in plain white paper inner)

I bought a copy of this record during Record Store day at Planet Retro in St. Pete,FL. The side that is supposed to contain Lazarus is uncut i.e. there is not track cut into the record. Am I the only one who had this manufacturing error? I still have the un-redeemed download card, wondering if I should return record to store or keep this one as a one in a million record cutting error. Bowie on!

So, presumably, you mean a smooth B-side with no etching as you would have realised if there was an etching that Lazarus couldn't be on that side?Also: surely you played the record and noted Lazarus was on the A-side? Does nobody play these things? (!!!) It's a Dada joke if collector vinyl editions are not being played - what are they - cheap plastic art at high prices?

It's only a one sided EP. All the music is on side 1, there is an etching on side 2.

It is my understanding that 5000 were made for the US, hence the US edition has a four digit nbr on the back and for the UK/Europe there were 15000 (?) in total, hence the five digit nbr on the back.

I am fairly sure my copy is an US pressing. The numbering is in xxxx number format. I have "0060" so It would make sense if US presses were numbered in xxxx format.

mine is a "US" edition (those are my pics on this entry) numbered 5898, bought in Japan. so all these numbers are meaningless without "official word".

Well assuming now that there are 15000, or even more copies is a bit upsetting. Why even put a sticker on the cover saying 'limited' or bother numbering the albums? Naturally have to think it is just hype to bump up sales. I suppose it is relative to how successful the artist is, and being there is no agreed definition of limited, they just say whatever they want. It is pretty awesome knowing I have some 1 of 200 or 500 truly limited releases of albums I really love. And this would be a bit more of a sweet buy if there were not as many copies. All that said, this version is really great looking and the music is awesome of course. I would want a copy of it no matter how many were pressed. I just wonder, are people on here still going to ask $100+ for a copy. Some greedy pig probably will still hope to take advantage of some sucker I guess. Hey did you see the guy selling his red copy of the recent Gorillaz reissue. Says he has played it a few times already, used sticker that comes with it and still wants $550, when there are new copies right there on the same page for half that (already crazy). Ha.

Yeah I am a bit curious also how many copies are pressed. Mine is #4727, so I was thinking maybe 5000. But now I see the picture on this page has copy # 5898. Hmm. Listening now and it sounds excellent. I am an 'obsessed fan moron' and very happy to get my copy of this, no matter how many are made. Just for the title track alone, the other two new tracks are very good also, I will be cherishing this one. My copy, bought in the States (thank you Josh @ Vinyl Street Cafe!), does not look to have any of the issues that hubi2 mentions. Sorry to hear about that. Happy Record Store Day everybody. Picked up a copy of the excellent new War on Drugs single also. A good day indeed. Now if that one album I ordered from Japan finally arrives, it will be epic. C'mon Mr. Postman.

Hello community,Yesterday I got my plates on time (2 copies, because collector). To the music itself and the selection and mixing of the pieces I need to say nothing more. For me as always awesome. But unfortunately, the quality of the vinyl leaves something to be desired. Both plates have two strips parallel to the edge, probably from the stenter. Listening is my very easy noise, actually almost not at all disturbing, but what is the actual disturbing factor is the strip on the back. This of course destroys the view of the etching and does not go for a collector at all! I hope only that there are also a few error-free copies! It is also the European pressing! Who knows in which forest it was pressed?Hallo Gemeinde,Gestern habe ich pünktlich meine Platten erhalten (2 Exemplare, weil Sammler). Zur Musik selbst und der Auswahl und Abmischung der Stücke brauche ich glaube nichts weiter zu sagen. Für mich wie immer genial. Aber leider lässt die Qualität des Vinyls einige Wünsche offen. Beide Platten haben ca. 1 cm vom Rand parallel zwei Streifen, wahrscheinlich vom Presswerk. Hören tut mein ein ganz leichtes Rauschen, eigentlich fast gar nicht störend, aber was der eigentliche Störfaktor ist, ist der Streifen auf der Rückseite. Dieser zerstört natürlich die Ansicht des Etching und das geht für einen Sammler gar nicht! Ich hoffe nur die es gibt auch ein paar Fehlerfreie Exemplare! Es ist im Übrigen die Europäische Pressung! Wer weiß in welchem Wald die gepresst wurde!
